What is the best load board for box trucks?

Checked October 2026

The short answer: no board is built only for box trucks. DAT is the biggest and the one most box truck drivers start with — its $59-a-month plan is the one DAT itself recommends for box truck operators. Sylectus carries the most expedited freight that fits a straight truck but sells to companies, not single trucks. Every board sells spot loads, not contracts — which is why boards fill gaps and companies fill weeks.

DAT — the big board

DAT One is the largest load board in North America. Carrier plans run $59 to $339 a month. The Standard plan at $59 is aimed at owner operators hauling partial loads in box trucks and sprinter vans — DAT says so in its own plan description. The higher plans buy rate history: what a lane actually paid in the last week or two weeks. That data is the real product. Without it, you are bidding blind against drivers who have it.

Truckstop — the credit-check board

Truckstop is the second big network, known for broker credit and risk tools — checking whether the broker who offers you a load pays his bills. Its public pricing is not posted the way DAT's is; plans are sold by quote and comparison sites put them in the same range as DAT's middle tiers. For a box truck driver, its freight mix runs more to flatbed and hotshot than to straight-truck work.

123Loadboard — the budget door

A smaller, cheaper board — roughly $35 to $39 a month — that accepts new authorities more readily than the big two. The freight is thinner, but a new carrier shut out of better freight can start here while his authority ages.

Sylectus — the closed network

Sylectus is different in kind: a carrier-to-carrier network for expedited freight — cargo vans, sprinters, and straight trucks — where vetted trucking companies pass freight to each other. It describes a community of more than 3,500 vetted trucking professionals. It is sold to small and mid-size trucking companies, priced by quote, and no single new truck can simply buy into it. Many box truck drivers reach Sylectus freight by leasing on to a carrier inside the network.

Where boards belong

Read the pattern: every board sells you the same thing — today's spot load, priced in a fight with every other subscriber. That is real and sometimes necessary. It is not a contract, not a route, and not a customer. The drivers with steady weeks use a board to fill the holes between company work and to learn what lanes pay. The company work is the foundation. It lives in this book.
